Through its direct deacetylation of tubulin, Hsp90, cortactin, Ku70 and survivinas well as its association with other interacting proteins, HDAC6 regulates many important biological phenomena
HDAC6 can regulate deacetylation of various non-histone proteins, including Hsp90 (Kovacs et al., 2005), cortactin (Zhang et al., 2007) and b-catenin
[From the third reference]:
This suggests that HDAC6 promotes dendritic growth and Golgi polarization through
cortactin deacetylation in vitro.
Therefore, we sought
to determine if HDAC6 plays a role in neuronal cell
morphogenesis during cerebral cortex development.
In this study, we demonstrate that HDAC6 regulates dendrite development and dendritic Golgi polarization through deacetylation of cortactin in cultured hippocampal neurons.
